| The trees, the sky, the birds and small woodland creatures. All are full of mana. As a Magus, Volcanus knew this and lived by the laws set by the old magic masters. He meditated quietly in the forest, concentrating his mana. He'd just learned his first true summoning powers recently. This ability, passed down through the ages would be a necessity to his survival. Summoning legendary heroes... the prospect intrigued him greatly. However, now was not the time to think about that. He gets up, looking around. The forest was dark as always. Quiet. Perfect for meditating. However now was time to return to the academy. He loathed the place, however it was perfect for learning new techniques. He walked down the path, taking note of everything he'd already seen before. | |

| As Volcanus continued down the path, eerie things started to happen around him.
The closer he got to the Academy, the trees seemed to get sicker and sicker.
Even the sky, which should have been day, was blackening. It was clear something was not right here.
Before long, he reached the Academy. Or at least, what used to be the Academy.
The ground was charred black, perhaps from destruction magics, and the walls of the Academy were in ruin, the whole place ablaze.

| This...
Volcanus looked upon the remains of the academy. This was horrible! Who or what could have done this....
He puts a hand to his face. This wasn't a time to panic. Volcanus decides to check for any survivors, not only humans, but of other mystical beasts that may have survived. With how the place was however, there most likely wouldn't be anyone. There was though, the chance of books surviving. He decides to look through the burning and chard ruins, looking for survivors or books.

| Volcanus eventually came across the remains of what used to be the library.
Whole sections of it were on fire, and bookcases were collapsing constantly.
However, a small and tiny voice popped out behind one of the collapsed bookcases, calling for help.

| Volcanus quickly moves to the source of the voice.
Volcanus: Hello? Is there a survivor?
He pulls at the collapsed bookcase to try and find who had survived.

| As the last bookcase was pulled free, a black shade with an evil grimace shot forth, knocking down Volcanus and flying slightly overhead.
It cried help a few more times before cackling maniacally, and then shooting off into the forest of dead trees nearby.
Almost in response, the Academy started burning down quicker, and the Library was starting to turn unstable.

| Volcanus gets up, brushing himself off. What the hell was that? It definitely possessed some sort of magic which he'd never seen before... Priorities first though! It was time to get out of here. Volcanus quickly runs out of the library, toward the forest, in the direction the creature went. While running into danger wasn't exactly something he wanted to do, his desire to know what happened would most likely be quenched if he followed the creature. | |

| Although while following the path should have led to some regular trees again, it seemed that in a straight line, anything that the shade passed through had died. Grass, trees, even animal life had succumbed to the shade.
It continued like this for a while until finally Volcanus reached an open clearing. There was literally nothing there. Just a large, circular area of dirt. However, there was blackish dirt near the center, which almost seemed to shake and vibrate, ever so slowly.

| Volcanus watches the dirt, wary to go near it. His common sense was telling him to just leave the area, as this seemed like a VERY bad idea. However, his curiosity was getting the better of him today. He begins to walk slowly toward the center, stopping just before the blackish dirt. | |

| As Volcanus takes a step, he kicks something solid. A small black cube that shines with light similar to a projector becomes tangible, and then turns off.
All around him materializes a citadel of black and white colors, among it giant dragons, and humanoid looking dragons holding giant spears.
Behind him are two of these spear wielding humanoid dragons, and in the middle, the shade. It cackles as it looks at Volcanus intently.
Before anything else happens, a portal rips open behind Volcanus, immediatley sucking him in, and then closing shut before any of the dragons can reach it.
